Great Win for Minors

Our U-17 hurlers travelled to Riverstown in Cork for our final group game in the Rebel Og Premier 2 hurling championship against Sarsfields last Saturday. This was a must win match in order to progress to the semi-final having already won their previous 2 games. From the throw in, the match lived up to all expectations with each score hard won.Sarsfield led 1-04 to 0-6 at half-time and entering the last quarter Shandrum trailed by 2 points.

In true Shandrum spirit the boys put in a massive last fifteen minutes and finished the game with a margin of 2 points on a scoreline of 1-15 to Sarsfield 2-10.This was an excellent win for the boys and their determined hard work in preparing for this competition paid off on the day. There were jubilant scenes with their supporters and coaching team afterwards and they now look forward to a semi-final pairing with Fermoy on Saturday October 2nd at 1p.m. in Newtown. We look forward to seeing as many as possible supporting us on the day.
